Net run rate calculator
Net run rate is the run rate a team scores at, minus the rate it concedes, across a tournament.
NRR = (Runs scored ÷ Overs faced) − (Runs conceded ÷ Overs bowled)
How this works
Net run rate separates teams level on points. A positive figure means a side scores faster than it concedes across the whole tournament.
The rule that catches people out: when a team is bowled out inside its allocation, the full quota of overs is used in the divisor, not the overs actually faced. A side dismissed for 90 in 22 overs of a 50-over game is treated as having faced 50.
Enter overs already adjusted for that rule and the result will match the official table.
Common questions
What happens to net run rate in an abandoned match?
A match with no result is excluded from the calculation entirely. Neither side gains or loses anything.
How do I improve net run rate quickly?
Chasing a small target fast, or defending a large one and bowling the opposition out cheaply, moves it most. The margin matters, not the win.
