Target = (Run rate × Balls) ÷ 6, then add one run to win
How this works
A projected score is what a rate produces if it holds for the whole innings. The target to win is one run more than that, since a tie is not a win.
Scoring is never flat across an innings, so use this to set a benchmark rather than to predict a total.
Common questions
Why is the target one higher than the projection?
Matching the opposition total ties the match. The chasing side needs to pass it, so the target is always one more.
Can I use this for a DLS revised target?
No. DLS uses a resource table that accounts for wickets and overs lost. Use the officially announced revised target.
