Economy rate calculator

Enter runs conceded and overs bowled. Part-overs use cricket notation.

How this works

Economy measures containment. It is the single most-watched bowling number in T20, where a spell going at seven an over can decide a match on its own.

An unfinished over counts only the balls actually bowled, which is why entering 9.4 rather than 9.7 matters.

Common questions

Are wides and no-balls included?

The runs are charged to the bowler, but the deliveries are not counted as legal balls, so both effects push the economy rate up.

What is a good T20 economy rate?

Under seven is respectable and under six is excellent across most T20 competitions.
