The Indian opener and popularly known as the Hitman of Indian cricket Rohit Sharma was born on 30 April 1987 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He has a simple background, yet he came up the ranks and now is captaining the Indian cricket team. Since Rohit was brought up by his grandparents because his family could not afford to feed him and his siblings, he had a passion for cricket from childhood. Rohit got his identification by his coach Dinesh Lad, who arranged to be supplied with a scholarship for a school, which had better cricket amenities where Rohit could develop.
He came into the limelight in 2007, when he was selected for the IP T20 squad during the ICC T20 World Cup in which India triumphed. Of a pleasing build, Rohit gained much fame when he set an unprecedented record of scoring three double centuries in one-day-internationals (ODI). He scored 264 non-first-class runs against Sri Lanka in 2014 that made a new record of the highest individual scorer in the ODIs. They also stand out in the ICC Cricket World Cup; K. Dowlin has scored five centuries in a single tournament in the year 2019, and he got the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award.

IPL became Rohit Sharma’s stage where he cemented himself as a captain of the Mumbai Indians and won five IPL titles altogether (2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 and 2020). He became one of the most loved and effective captains of the Indian Premier League. Rohit recently took over the team management and possesses an assertive demeanor while still being calm and composed; he took the Indian team to lift the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup and became the first Indian skipper to lift two T20 World Cups.
In addition to cricket, Rohit is a vegetarian who raised voices for animals, an ambassador of WWF-India and a supporter of PETA.
