The Indian opener and popularly known as the Hitman of Indian cricket Rohit Sharma was born on 30 April 1987 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He has a simple background, yet he came up the ranks and now is captaining the Indian cricket team. Since Rohit was brought up by his grandparents because his family could not afford to feed him and his siblings, he had a passion for cricket from childhood. Rohit got his identification by his coach Dinesh Lad, who arranged to be supplied with a scholarship for a school, which had better cricket amenities where Rohit could develop.

He came into the limelight in 2007, when he was selected for the IP T20 squad during the ICC T20 World Cup in which India triumphed.
