Punjab Kings have made some strategic moves to add strength to their squad for the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League in a bid to break their title drought. With a mix of seasoned internationals and promising domestic talents, the team is hoping to make an impact in the tournament.
The notable signing is Shreyas Iyer, signed for ₹26.75 crore. The leadership experience and consistent batting performances of Iyer will help strengthen the top order for PBKS.
Arshdeep Singh has been retained for ₹18 crore. The franchise believes in his abilities, as he has been a valuable left-arm pacer in the PBKS bowling lineup, contributing crucial breakthroughs in past seasons.
The inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal, acquired for ₹18 crore, adds a strategic edge to the spin department. Chahal’s leg-spin prowess and experience in high-pressure situations are invaluable assets for the team.

All-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell are also brought in for ₹11 crore and ₹4.2 crore respectively. It gives the team a more flexible approach with Stoinis capable of batting and bowling and Maxwell providing explosive batting and off-spin, giving PBKS options for various match scenarios.
Emerging talent Nehal Wadhera (4.2 crore) and Harpreet Brar (1.5 crore) will bring much-needed vigor to the side. Wadhera has impressed on home soil, while left-arm spinner Brar with lower-order batting adds significant depth to the side.
In the wicketkeeping department, PBKS has bagged Vishnu Vinod for ₹95 lakh and Australian Josh Inglis for ₹2.60 crore. The latter is yet to debut in the IPL but has experience of international cricket and has a reputation for aggressive batting, which could provide quick runs in the middle order.
The pace attack further strengthens the team with South African all-rounder Marco Jansen signing for ₹7 crore. Tall and one who extracts a lot of bounce, Marco Jansen is the perfect threat on most kinds of tracks.
PBKS has also bought Indian bowlers such as Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yash Thakur for ₹1.8 crore each. These additions provide depth and options in fast bowling, which will be tested in the long haul.
With this rejuvenated team, Punjab Kings would look to put all of their opponents on notice and play a very good IPL 2025 campaign. The balance between internationals with experience and local players at the initial stage depicts a great balance which will hopefully herald a great season.
