Born on May 26, 2003, at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Nitish Kumar Reddy has made his mark in Indian cricket very swiftly as one of the upcoming all-rounders. A right-handed batter and a right-arm medium-fast bowler, Nitish got into the spotlight initially during the 2017-18 Vijay Merchant Trophy in which he created a record-breaking 441 knock against Nagaland, which till date remains the highest score in the tournament history ever. This early form gave him the prestigious BCCI award for the best U-16 cricketer that season.
He began to play first-class cricket for Andhra in 2020, impressing with both bat and ball as he continued to hone his skills of a multidimensional all-rounder. The ability to deliver performances when most needed got Nitish picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the IPL in 2023 for INR 20 lakhs. He broke into the big league in the 2024 season, playing a very significant role for SRH in the middle order. Notably, his 76* against Rajasthan Royals, where he anchored and accelerated towards the latter overs, was one of his highlights. Although he majorly plays as a batter, Nitish has also bailed his side out with his bowling- SRH have gotten some really crucial wickets due to him, and Nitish is a constant work in progress regarding all departments. The bowling speed can’t be termed as his strength but is sure that the bowl remains straight with proper length.
