Priya Mishra is the promising talent in Indian women’s cricket. Born on June 4, 2004, she has steadily risen through the ranks and made her mark on the international stage.
Priya started her cricketing journey in Delhi, playing the game as a right-handed batter and a right-arm leg break bowler. The domestic performances did not pass without being noticed, so it came as no surprise when Priya was sold to Gujarat Giants at the Women’s Premier League auction for ₹20 lakh in February 2024.
Her domestic career was marked by an important milestone when she took the top wicket in the 2023–24 Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, taking 23 wickets in just eight matches. This excellent performance opened the door to being included in the national setup. In August 2024, she was appointed as a non-travelling reserve for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The real landmark occurred during October 2024 in Priya’s career as she got her first Indian women’s national team call up for an ODI series against New Zealand. Starting her journey from October 27, 2024, on debut, and then representing her nation globally.
Priya’s journey, beyond her on-field success, is inspiring many young cricketers. She has been an inspiration as she has grown from the domestic circuit to international cricket and has highlighted the need for dedication, hard work, and grabbing opportunities. As she continues to grow in her skills and experience, the cricketing fraternity is waiting for what she will contribute to Indian women’s cricket in the near future.
